Italy — Amalfi

On the Lagoon 46 catamaran
Salerno→Amalfi→Positano→Procida→Ischia→Sorrento→Salerno

A week along the Amalfi Coast and around the islands of the Bay of Naples — Procida and Ischia: short daytime passages, lunch and a swim at anchor in bays, evenings in towns that look their best from the water.

Day-by-day route
  1. Day 1
    Salerno
    boarding at the marina

Meeting at the marina, settling into cabins, getting to know the skippers and a safety briefing. In the evening — a walk along the Lungomare promenade and the first dinner in town.

  2. Day 2
    Amalfi
    Salerno → Amalfi

The first passage along the Amalfi Coast. A town with St Andrew’s Cathedral at the top of a wide staircase, lemon groves on the slopes and limoncello in every shop.

  3. Day 3
    Positano
    Amalfi → Positano

Colourful houses cascading down to the sea. Mooring off the town beach, the evening in narrow lanes with terraces and small boutiques.

  4. Day 4
    Procida
    Positano → Procida

Around the Sorrento peninsula into the Bay of Naples, with Capri seen from the water on the way. Procida is the quietest island in the bay: the pastel harbour of Marina Corricella and the Terra Murata citadel on the cliff.

  5. Day 5
    Ischia
    Procida → Ischia

A short passage to the largest island in the bay. The Aragonese Castle on a rock linked to the shore by a bridge, thermal springs and Mount Epomeo above the island.

  6. Day 6
    Sorrento
    Ischia → Sorrento

Across the bay to a town on sheer cliffs. The old centre, views of Vesuvius and the last big evening ashore.

  7. Day 7
    Salerno
    Sorrento → Salerno

The return passage around the peninsula with stops for swimming. Farewell evening and last night on board; disembarkation on the morning of day eight.

What a week on board looks like

The same on every route. No sailing experience needed — the skippers do it all.

A typical day

The morning starts with breakfast on deck. Then we sail to the next stop, pausing in a bay on the way: a swim, lunch on board, time to relax in the sun.

By evening the boat is in a marina or at anchor off a town. Dinner ashore at a restaurant of your choice — or a quiet evening on board.

The route is flexible: in strong winds the skippers change the order of stops to keep passages comfortable.

What to bring

  • A soft bag instead of a suitcase — there is no room for hard luggage in the cabin
  • Shoes with light-coloured soles or sandals for the deck
  • Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses
  • A light windbreaker or jumper for the evening
  • Passport, travel insurance and a bank card
